Corrugated cardboard and corrugated boxes are the main five performance indicators tested: side pressure strength, burst strength, puncture strength, compressive strength and flexural strength.
Performance tests must be performed on all specimens. The test was performed after treating the sample for 24 hours in a constant temperature and humidity environment with a temperature of 23°C ± 2°C and a humidity of 50% ± 5%.
1, side pressure strength
Corrugated cartons are rigid containers that maintain a certain shape when used. A major form of corrugated box damage is crushing and losing rigidity. The side pressure strength of the carton is an important indicator of the rigidity of the carton. The side pressure strength of a corrugated board is the ability of the board to withstand the compressive load in the direction of the corrugation. This indicator can be used to compare the production under similar conditions, but not the quality of the same batch of products. It can also be used to compare the side pressure strength of corrugated board produced from different materials.
2, burst strength
The maximum pressure that a corrugated board can withstand evenly per unit area is the burst strength of corrugated board. Through a rubber membrane that can be raised and restored firmly clamped by the lower pressure ring, under the action of hydraulic pressure, the specimen tightly fixed between the upper and lower pressure rings is pushed through the raised rubber membrane with a certain force. 3, puncture strength
The power of the corrugated board is made by a certain shape of the pyramid. The energy shown is called the puncture strength of the corrugated board. 4, compressive strength
An inherent characteristic of corrugated cardboard is that it has a greater moment of inertia. Maintaining its original thickness when the paperboard is subjected to high moments of inertia is a prerequisite for maintaining its characteristics. Therefore, the ability of paperboard to withstand flat load without crushing is an important strength indicator for corrugated paperboard. This index is particularly important for the flexibility of the corrugated board in use and for maintaining the original thickness of the board during the various manufacturing processes of the carton.
5, bending strength
As a kind of packaging container, the carton needs to be frequently opened for the swing cover. This requires that the paper should have a certain folding-resistant ability. The paper’s transverse folding resistance measures the paper’s 135° reciprocal folding test for 150mm x 15mm specimens under certain tension, speed and angle conditions. When the paper is broken, it is the inspection of the folding resistance. frequency. The characteristics of the pulp, the moisture content, the tightness, the fiber length and the binding fastness of the baseboard paper, and the influence of factors such as the storage time and temperature of the base paper, largely determine the folding resistance of the base paper. Therefore, to improve the folding resistance of the carton, the quality of the good base paper is important.
